The zone of Carmo, Chiado neighbor, has some fascinating points in the history of the city, including the Convento do Carmo and the Church, which maintains its elegance and grandeur. There you can visit the ruins, but also do Carmo Archaeological Museum, which includes a set of prehistoric, Roman, Medieval, Manueline, Renaissance and Baroque.
The Largo do Carmo is also a landmark of recent Portuguese history, having been privileged scenario Carnation Revolution on 25 April 1974.
