Figure 1, lines and colored areas indicate the direction of the dikes on the island (data obtained from Fuster and others and Stillman 1967 and 1987 mentioned in the guide Canarian volcanoes and geological routes). The island emerged in the initial common area Betancuria and slut. Later volcanism began in the north of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. The front swept east Betancuria zone forming a channel along the African continental crust. This volcanism is responsible for the so-called knives Fuerteventura (narrow and elongated valleys east of the island) and is rejuvenating both islands (timanfaya and recent volcanic islands and north of Fuerteventura).
This second front is indicated in Figure 1 in red. The black circles are the alignments of volcanoes, as can be seen are perpendicular to the wave front, red arrows. The island of Graciosa and Lobos are part of the alignments for the main island. When this occurs Betancuria turning wavefront, channeled between this and the African plate, from north-northwest to south-southwest direction having a new bypass south of the peninsula of Jandia. Within the massif
Betancuria the north is older, relying on that there was a whirlwind (cone sheet) in the manner of Teno and Anaga Gomera Gran Canaria.
Swirl The existence of this rules out the possibility of a tripod structure (called rifts or back) as this does not occur in a tripod structure. Furthermore, the levees can be seen from Betancuria the Jandia peninsula (the oldest) are perpendicular (with the exception of the hurricane) to the levees to the south- this in Betancuria or south in Jandia latter being caused by the front from the north.
Note also that all wavefronts have the same direction, both from the north, the Jandia Lanzarote, and the Betancuria, with the proviso that passes through the north east of the island and reaches Jandia varying in its direction.
